Cooking it up for Cardmadfairy

Die Cuts & Punches is the theme for the new challenge at Cardmadfairy's Digi Days and I have made a 40th birthday card commissioned by a colleague for a friend who particularly enjoys cooking. I used a Cuttlekids die set to cut the numbers and then embossed them. I  also punched a border on the purple paper and at the top of the recipe. I used my digi stamp All Dressed Up available here, and added a pinny and chef's hat which I stuck on with foam pads. Finally I added a length of bakers twine and tied on a little set of cutlery charms.

I've been so busy making monkeys and covering shifts for sick colleagues that it's been a whole week since I last blogged! The monkey pile is growing and the orders keep coming in which is great but doesn't leave me much time for anything else. The new baby I blogged about in my last post was brought round for a quick visit yesterday but unfortunately I was at work so missed seeing him. Fortunately Neil was at home and took a few pictures for me - not quite the same as cuddles but will have to be enough for now! Here is baby Thomas with his new monkey:

Just managed to fit in one quick card as respite from sewing and this is it - LOTV image coloured with Promarkers, papers from Basic Grey, lace from my stash and a button which I coloured with Promarker and distressed with Stayzon ink to tie in with papers. That's all for now folks - have to get back to my monkeys :o)

Alter it for Charisma

Sorry this post is a bit late today and is short and sweet - I've had a bit of a panic on with monkeys over the past 24 hours - suddenly had to finish off a batch unexpectedly and have only just finished in time to go off to work :p

Our new challenge this week at Charisma Cardz is Alter It and I have made this little plant from - wait for it - a pot noodle! I started by using alcohol inks to colour the rim of the little plastic pot then modpodged some book paper to cover the plastic then after drying it I coloured it also with the alcohol inks. I added various trims round the top then some patterned paper a die cut and stamped bird - Paper Artsy, a few flowers and vines and finished it all off with some sticky backed gems.

Last of the weddings

Just popping on here quickly before work this morning to share the last of the 4 wedding cards I've (nearly) completed for my daughter's friend. I say nearly because I will be personalising them before sending them off but prefer to share them on here without the names etc.
This image is one of my own digi stamps - Cupcake Wedding Cake - and can be found here. I used Promarkers to colour the image and added some Glossy Accents to finish. The backing paper is from the Cloisonne set from GCD Studios and the lacy border is a Cheery Lyn's border die cut. The flowers are from Wild Orchid and I stuck the sentiment (from Inkadinkado) and a larger cupcake onto a couple of hatpins to complete the design.

Entering this for the following:
Allsorts - Say it with Flowers
Hotshot Crafts - Ribbon
Mami Doodles - Pink/Red/White
Crafty Purple Frog - Pink & girly
S J Papercrafts Flowers plus include red or pink

So pretty

I love this pretty LOTV image, it's just so delicate and girly so I thought it had to be coloured very delicately in pastel shades so I used my Promarkers with a lot of blender to keep the colours very subtle and just finished off with a clear Sakura sparkle pen to add a little glitz and magic. The papers are Basic Grey and that fun trim was part of a secret santa gift this Christmas - I attached it with a jewel brad at either end. The wish tickets are from Whimsy Stamps and the sentiment is Personal Impressions.

Mini Monkey and a touch of spring

I say a touch of spring with my tongue firmly in my cheek, yesterday we had a four seasons day here - sleet, sunshine, snow and wind - unbelievable! Good news though, the socks arrived and they are fab, such a bright and colourful mix! I'm really going to enjoy making these ones, I started out yesterday with this mini one made from a toddler sized sock - so cute!

Today's card is one of my own images April - available here - she has been coloured with Promarkers and teamed with Basic Grey papers for a fresh spring card. I borrowed the big flowers idea from my sister Gillian who made some similar ones on a recent card, thanks Gill :o)

Teddy Bo goes surfing

Today's card is the result of a bit of unexpected spare time, was supposed to have been off to a good start with the next 15 monkeys but I'm still waiting for the socks to be delivered. Should have arrived on Friday but have been delayed until tomorrow. However I've had time to make a couple of cards, do some art jounalling and get prepared for a children's Mother's Day craft session at the library on Sunday.

Meanwhile the first three monkeys have been off having adventures in and around Edinburgh preparing for their big debut at the weekend. The photographer has been following them around and has got some excellent shots of their mischief - more later!!

Anyway here is Teddy Bo having an adventure of his own, The image was printed onto card and coloured with Promarkers then I used some distress inks with some spritzed Tattered Angels to give a misty, watery effect. Basic Grey papers and a fancy folding technique - not as easy as it looked in the demo!! - and all finished off with a sentiment from Rubber Stampede.

3rd Wedding

.....well a Civil Partnership anyway although is there a difference? - they both stand for the same thing - an excuse for a huge party with all your friends and relatives! This is the third of 4 wedding cards comissioned by one of my daughter's best friends, they are at that age now - late twenties - when loads of their friends are getting married and settling down. An expensive time dont you think when you count all the hen nights, wedding finery, gifts as well as the cost of attending the weddings :o)

Anyway, for this card I have used the digi stamp Mister & Mr from Digistamp Boutique and kept the design very simple. I colored the image with promarkers and added some Glossy Accents on the glasses, the hearts are a mix of punched and die cut, and the sentiment is from Inkadinkado.

Taking a break from the weddings

My card for this week’s Charisma Cardz challenge has nothing to do with marriage and everything to do with merging. Our challenge is masking so I have merged 3 Gorjuss stamps to create my image - I started by stamping the cat, then the sitting Gorjuss girl then finally the standing one. The image was coloured with Promarkers and I've used a Basic Grey backing paper, a sentiment from Stampin Up and a bit of lace from my stash to complete the card.

Entering the challenges at:
Crafts and Me - Pretty in lace
Simon Says Stamp - Anything goes
Just Some Lines - Girly girls
