It's a beautiful day.....

again here in Scotland - and I'm trying to make the most of it in case this is our summer!!
Unfortunately I'm working today and for the next few days but I did manage a fab day out with Neil on Tuesday, lunch in a Borders beer garden, a visit to Melrose Abbey, a yummy ice cream and the weather was glorious to top it all off!
Today's card is perfect for sunny summer days and the sentiment from Whimsy Stamps sums it up perfectly :o) The image is from the Charisma Cardz sponsor for this week - Stampfairy
I coloured it with my Promarkes, die cut the shape with nesties, added a die cut border - Marrianne's and vines - Whimsy again and teamed them all with papers from my stash -  My Mind's Eye & First Edition. This week's challenge is No Flowers - pop on over to Charisma to join in.

It's back to work for me this morning after a nice few days off, I had time to make a couple of cards, several monkeys and some new Jubilee images for my digi shop, run a workshop on Altered Books at the library and spend some quality time with my family - we even had a beautiful sunny day yesterday to top it all off!
Before I head off to work I just have time to share one of the cards I made, a commission for one of my colleagues. The image is from Crafts and Me, papers are Crate Papers, sentiment from Whimsy Stamps and a mix of Memory Box dies from Dies to Die For and Sizzix dies. The fab gingham trim also came from Dies to Die For.

Happy Birthday Neil

Today is my wonderful husband's birthday, not that he wants to be reminded - he is wondering how he got to the age he is today. No I'm not going to give his age away but I do know what he means though, isn't it weird how you never feel as old as you actually are? My 92 year old aunt tells me she still feels how she did when she was a young woman and when she goes to the day centre she attends a couple of times a week she wonders at her being there with “all the old folks”, bless her!
Anyway, Neil is off to work today, guiding tourists at Rosslyn Chapel and I'm heading off to the shops in a minute to buy some lovely, yummy food for his birthday dinner tonight. Looking forward to seeing all the family together.
His birthday card is what I'm sharing today, I've used some Basic Grey paper + 1 other - (details later when I can get access to my desk), Whimsy ticket die and Stampin Up punched bird and branch.

Clean & Simple for Cardmadfairy

There's a new challenge today over at Cardmadfairy's Digi Days and this time the theme is clean and simple. This is a theme I stuggle with a bit - it's so hard to step away from all the gorgeous patterned papers and ribbon and embellishments and.....well I'm sure you know what I mean!  Anyway I had the idea for this in my head and for once it has turned out pretty much as I hoped it would :o)
I used my Blossom digi available here and printed it out onto white card with a few extra flowers which I coloured and cut out to add some dimnsion to the card, I coloured the flowers with Promarkers and used some Stickles to add a bit of bling to the centres. The sentiment is an old retired Stampin Up one and I cut it out with a die which I think came from Crafts-Too but I'm not positive about that!

Whimsy Inspiration Add dimension
The Perfect Sentiment Get well without saying "get well"
Top Tip Tuesday - Clean & Simple

Pink and Girly

Well I hope it's a bit nicer wherever you are this morning - here the weather is yukky, pouring rain and wind - definitely more March than May! I apologise for my lack of posts recently, I have been concentrating mostly on my new blog/shop for selling my Sock Toys which  along with much more overtime at work has left me with no time for cardmaking. I'm taking a little time off next week and plan to get back to my desk and my patterned papers for a day or two leaving the monkeys to do their own thing for a short while!

These three monkeys were commissioned by
Little Monkeys Nurseries
, Edinburgh

Today's card is for the new challenge this week at Charisma Cardz where the theme is Pink & Girly, the cute image comes from Digi Doodle shop, one of this week's sponsors, and I coloured it with Promarkers. Papers are Basic Grey and the flowers were die cut with my new Cheery Lyn die Frangipani with Leaves. Sentiment tickets and die are from Whimsy stamps.

Silver wedding

Today I'd like to share a quick card I had to make for a colleague this week, I basically followed the same design as the 80th birthday card I made a couple of days earlier as I really had no time to think about this one. If you look at the 80th card in the previous post you will see that although the layout is very similar the card looks quite different - amazing what you can do with a different colour scheme and the variety of embellishments available these days isn't it!

Challenges entered:
Paper Pretties - Flowers
Flourishes - Butterflies
Bunny Zoe's Crafts - Ribbon or twine
Fashionista Challenge  - Wedding, wedding anniversary
Hooked on Crafts - Flowers
Make it Monday - Always anything goes
